Jarolyn Joan Hoffman, born May 3, 1928, died June 25, 1993. Jerry grew up in Grand Island, NE, educated there from Platt Grade School, Walnut Junior High School, and Grand Island Senior High School, from which she graduated in 1946. She then attended Doane College, where she met Leon Forst. She and Leon were married on June 11, 1949. Jerry taught country school for a year, in a little country school near Doniphan, NE. Then she and Leon got on to having kids, and as one would expect from such beautiful parents, they were wonderful kids - a story of its own. They settled in Crete, NE, where Leon was born and raised. Their marriage was a model. Leon died way, way early, on July 14, 1971. Jerry was left with the plumbing and heating business that they owned and Leon ran, and quickly came up to speed as the owner and manager, with the help of Edward Forst, Leon's dad (another legend in his own time). During this interval, Jerry became active and successful in local politics as well as continuing her activities with the local Catholic Church. She then married Sam Conrad, an old golfing friend of Leons. Jerry then sold the business and they moved to Phoenix, to be near Sam's mother. Sam tended to want to live close to his mother, so when his mother moved to Murphysboro, IL, they sold their beautiful home in Phoenix and moved to Murphysboro. There, Jerry lived out her remaining years before a heart problem claimed her much too soon.
No mom and dad could ask for a better daughter. No kids could wish for a better mother. No husband could dream of a better wife. No brother could possibly imagine having a more wonderful sister. Jerry was a daughter, mother, wife, and sister, without peer. My life has a great emptiness, that will never be filled, with the loss of my dearly beloved sister. Another reason to be so thankful for Christ. Those who know, need no further explanation. Those who don't - please don't hesitate to ask.
